Celebrating the Renewal of Jewish Life at the Rabbinic Ordination Ceremony at Hanover

Today (21.11.22), the Ronald S. Lauder Foundation celebrated the Hanover Jewish community’s first Orthodox Rabbinical Ordination Ceremony since World War II – in the community synagogue of Hanover, Germany.
Five new Rabbis, trained at the Rabbinerseminar zu Berlin, received ordination today, with the honorable presence of the President of Germany, Mr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
These five Rabbis join the existing 16 alumni Rabbis of Rabbinical Seminar in Berlin, to lead the Jewish community in Germany and its renewal.
Mr. Ronald Lauder, President of the Ronald S. Lauder Foundation – which supports the Rabbinerseminar zu Berlin –honored the ceremony with his presence and emphasized, “We owe this renewal to the remarkable leadership of people like Konrad Adenauer, Willy Brandt and many other chancellors, and to the remarkable resilience of the Jewish people.”
Mr. Lauder mentioned the growing number of Jews in Germany today – over 120,000 people.
