Graduation of the First Students of the Lauder Pierce Jewish & Hebrew Studies Program

 

Tuesday, June 7, 2022, was a very important day for the Jewish Community of Athens. The first twelve graduates of the Lauder Pierce Hebrew and Jewish Studies Program gathered with their parents  at the open theater of the American College of Greece – Pierce College – to celebrate the program’s first graduating class. The Lauder Pierce Hebrew and Jewish Studies program enables graduates of the Lauder Athens Jewish Community School to continue their Jewish education in Pierce College, – one of Greece’s best schools – and maintain close ties with the Jewish tradition.

Among distinguished guests were: the President of the American College Dr. David Horner, President of the Jewish Community of Athens Alvertos Taraboulous, Executive Vice President and CEO The of Ronald S. Lauder Foundation Rabbi Josh Spinner, the Rabbi of Athens Gabriel Negrin and the President of the Program’s Parents committee, Mr. David Giouli.

Following the event, the Vice President of administration of the College, Mrs. Iliana Lazana, together with Rabbi Josh Spinner and Mr. Taraboulous, awarded diplomas for the completion of the program. The event concluded with a thank-you speech delivered by the Program Director of the Jewish Community of Athens, Mr. Iakovos Atoun. The Ronald S. Lauder Foundation congratulates the graduates of the Lauder Pierce Hebrew and Jewish Studies program and wishes them best of luck and success in the future!
