Lauder Bagrut High School Celebrates Its First Graduation

The first Graduation ceremony of the Lauder Tichon was held on Thursday, June 23, 2022, in Berlin.

This marks the first group of students to receive a “Teudat Bagrut” (Israeli Matriculation Certificate) for studies conducted entirely in Germany.

With strong support from the Ministry of Education of the State of Israel, the educational institutions in Berlin – supported by the Ronald S. Lauder Foundation – launched the Lauder Tichon, two years ago. The goal of this pioneering effort is to bring the Israeli educational system to young, Jewish students in Berlin.

The result is an initial group of six young women and men – fully bi-lingual in German and Hebrew – with Bagrut level competencies in general and Jewish studies. Attendees celebrated the monumental achievement at a special ceremony.

The Israeli Bagrut allows the graduates to study in any university they choose around the world, and of course, in Israel.

Miriam Barkai, the Director of Education at the Ronald S. Lauder Foundation, congratulated the graduates and said: “Education is our strength, it is the power of the people of Israel. Therefore, ‘Go up, go up, for strength is in you.'”

The event was reported at the Jüdische Allgemeine Newspaper and website at the following link. The full article, including interviews with the graduates, was published in the print version of the newspaper.
