Yair Lapid, Israeli Minister of Finance, Visits the Lauder School in Budapest

On 1-2 October 2013, the Tom Lantos Institute organized an international conference on Jewish Life and Anti-Semitism in Contemporary Europe.
Mr. Yair Lapid visited Hungary on occasion of the conference,and visited the Lauder Javne Jewish Community School.
The Minister was accompanied by Ilan Mor, Israel’s Ambassador to Hungary and Josh Spinner, Executive Vice President of the Ronald S. Lauder Foundation.
The guests were welcomed by the school’s choir and Klezmer band who performed Hatikva, the Israeli national anthem.
The meeting provided an opportunity for students to talk to the Mr. Lapid, a politician of Hungarian descent, and ask the minister about his family, his past and his political calling.
The visit left an impression on students and Mr. Lapid alike. Following the meeting, Mr. Yair Lapid posted on his Facebook page: “It was moving and a joy.”
